The new ferrata on Ifinger peak dedicated to Heini Holzer
The initiators
A joint effort and cooperation between the Tourist Association and Alpine Club Schenna meant work on the Heini Holzer via ferrata project could commence in May 2016.
The construction
The Heini Holzer via ferrata was completed by four mountain guides in six weeks: Peter Vanzo, a mountain guide from Meran, coordinated the project.
The inauguration
The inauguration of the climbing route at the Piffinger Köpfl Merano 2000 was basically a meeting of many old friends of Heini Holzer.

Technical data

Description
The 500 m long climb is perfectly secured with 1000 m of steel cable, and is rated at medium difficulty (A–B and in some places B/C).
Access
Access is gained from the top station of the Meran 2000 tram, from Gsteier and from the top station of the Taser tram.
Safety
The via ferrata was constructed according to the latest standards. Only certified material was used.
